The most famous attractions are on your itinerary:

Here's your chance to stand on the Equator. Youíll see spectacular views of East Africaís
two great mountains, Mount Kenya and
Mount Kilimanjaro. Youíll land at Amboseli Park in the midst of game herds and within sight of Kilimanjaro, plus:

  • See the rare species of giraffe,
    Rothschildís
  • Compare other game animals with
    those that have adapted to a drier ecosystem, such as the Somali Ostrich
    and gerenuk.
  • Stay in a 5-star hotel in the foothills
    of Mt. Kenya. Heated pool, tennis
    and golf.
 
DAY 1 & 2  
USA/Canada-London-Nairobi
Depart USA/Canada on overnight flight to London. Arrive early in the morning with ample time for sightseeing and shopping.

In the evening, board an overnight flight to Nairobi.
 
DAY 3  
Nairobi
This morning arrive early in Kenyaís capital, the ëGreen City in the Sun.í You are met by your Shades of Africa guide and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the morning is free. Your adventure begins this afternoon with a visit to the Bomas of Kenya. Be entertained by traditional dancers representing different Kenyan tribes. End with a Nairobi driving tour.

DAY 4  
Nairobi-Tree Lodge
This morning, drive to Mt. Kenya/Aberdares to a tree lodge which overlooks floodlit water holes frequented by wildlife. This region is home to a diverse range of forest animals; elephant, rhino, warthog, giant forest hog and bush pig, antelope, waterbuck, dik-dik, eland and the rare bongo. The big cats are here too: lions in Aberdares are bushier than those you will see in the plains.

DAY 5 & 6  
Tree lodge - Samburu
Stop at the Equator for special demonstrations as you drive north to the Samburu Game Reserve. Samburu is dry and desert-like under the Equatorial sun. See some of Africaís most unique animals, specially adapted to this environment, such as Grevyís zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and the Somali ostrich. Leopards are often seen, as are striped hyena. Crocodiles basking on the sandbars and waterbuck feeding on riverbed grasses will catch your eye as you go. The optional Samburu village tour is a fascinating cultural experience.

DAY 7  
Samburu-Mt. Kenya Safari Club
After breakfast, leave Samburu for the Mount Kenya region. You will stay in the lap of luxury at the elegant Mount Kenya Safari Club. Set at the base of Mount Kenya, this 5-star hotel offers golfing, tennis, horseback riding, trout fishing, and swimming. A visit to a local animal orphanage is optional.

DAY 8  
Mt. Kenya Safari Club-Lake Nakuru
Drive through Nyahururu Falls down to the floor of the Great Rift Valley en route to Lake Nakuru, where many thousand pink flamingo carpet the lake. Lion, baboon, water buffalo, gazelle, both white and black rhino and the rare Rothschildís Giraffe find sanctuary here.

DAY 9 & 10  
Nakuru-Maasai Mara
Drive to the renowned Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
This is the northern extension of the Serengeti, where the concentration of animals is one of the highest in the world. Chances are excellent of seeing large numbers of lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, hippo, hyenaóand perhaps even a cheetah or rhino. In addition to phenomenal wildlife, Maasai Mara is the place to take an optional hot-air balloon ride, a fishing trip to Lake Victoria or visit to a Maasai village.

DAY 11 & 12  
Maasai Mara-Nairobi-Amboseli
After a final game drive en route to the airstrip, itís off to Nairobi by plane for lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant. This unique eatery features a variety of game meats roasted on spits. Sample roasted zebra, ostrich, crocodile, just to name a few. In the afternoon, you will drive to Amboseli National Park, at the base of the imposing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Early-morning game drives offer the best view of this snowcapped mountain, which creates a stunning backdrop for herds of elephant, giraffe, and prides of lion. A bush walk or a visit to a Maasai village can also be arranged.

DAY 13  
Amboseli-Nairobi-London
Leave Amboseli after breakfast and drive to Nairobi. A day room is available for you at the Stanley Hotel. Rest, and perhaps visit the National Museum and Snake Park, before departing this evening for London.

DAY 14  
London-USA/Canada
You will be able to enjoy another fabulous day of sightseeing and shopping, before boarding your flight returning to USA/Canada.
